The Franklin Furnace Fund
Since 1985, the Franklin Furnace Fund has awarded over 300 grants to early career-artists who are no longer students. The fund is focused on supporting the production of new major performance artworks, awarding grants in annual cycles.
Grant amount: Between $2,000 - $10,000
Awarded by: Franklin Furnace, with support from Jerome Foundation and the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs.
Eligibility: Artists from all over the world are eligible. However, recipients are expected to present their work in New York City.

LIFT – Early Career Support for Native Artists Program
The LIFT program acts as a career launching point for Native artists, providing support for one year to develop new projects that further positive social change. The program also includes a series of workshops and trainings that assist professional development.
Grant amount: $10,000

Eligibility: US residents who are enrolled members or citizens of a federally-recognized or state-recognized American Indian tribe or Alaska Native corporation, or of Native Hawaiian ancestry.

Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grants
The Foundation for Contemporary Arts’ Emergency Grants are designed for individual artists who incur sudden, unanticipated costs related to presenting their work, without enough time to seek other forms of financial assistance. Supporting experimental contemporary art, it is the only active grant program in the US that offers immediate assistance of this kind.
Grant amount: Up to $3,000
Awarded by: Foundation for Contemporary Arts
Eligibility: Artists residing anywhere in the US
Deadline: Accepted on a rolling basis, up to 8 weeks before scheduled exhibition or performance
CBC Spouses Visual Arts Scholarship
The Congressional Black Caucus Foundation seeks to promote equality by supporting the global Black community. With this mission in mind, CBCF offer a scholarship for African-American or Black students who are studying in the field of visual arts.
Grant amount: Up to $5,000
Awarded by: Congressional Black Caucus Foundation
Eligibility: Full-time African-American or Black students pursuing a degree in visual arts.
Deadline: April 30, 2022
Robert W. Thunen Memorial Scholarship
The support of lighting-centered projects is at the heart of the Robert W. Thunen Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship awards up to $5,000 to students in fields related to illumination such as theatre, interior design, lighting design or architecture, as well as engineering.
Grant amount: $1,000 - $5,000
Awarded by: San Francisco IES
Eligibility: Full-time students in Northern California, Nevada, Oregon, or Washington who study in a lighting-related field.
