Borbála Ida Gergely
Borbála Ida Gergely is a painter whose work focuses on recurring themes of loneliness and optimism and the comlex duality of isolation and freedom.
Her work represents an emotional response to perceived isolation brought on by a state of complete or near-complete lack of contact between an individual and society. This concept is reflected in many aspects of her work – in the narrowing, empty buildings with blind windows, in the claustrophobic environment, or the bare, unoccupied skies in the background.
And yet there is also an optimistic view on life that is present here, a perspective where being alone doesn’t always have to be painful. Harmonious and vibrant colors and symbols like open doors and stairs, kites, and balls, are symbols of self-liberation and emotional empowerment.
