BIO

Julia Hartmann is an art historian and independent curator based in Vienna, Austria. She worked as Assistant Curator at the Secession and the Belvedere 21 and is a Ph.D. candidate at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with a research focus on an all-female exhibition history and “women’s art” from China.

She is the co-founder of SALOON Vienna, an international network for women in the arts. Julia was Curator in Residence at NODE Center for Curatorial Studies in Berlin, at the Rockbund Art Museum in Shanghai, and at Residency Unlimited in New York City. She frequently holds lectures and artist talks and writes for online and print art publications. She was most recently involved as a curator at the KARA AGORA participatory online art & research center.
