Majka Tkáčiková is a guest curator of ArtConnect's Artists to Watch ‘22
Majka Tkáčiková is a Barcelona-based independent curator and art producer, originally from Slovakia. She is particularly interested in contemporary visual art and art installations and their ability to build cultural, social, and intergenerational exchange. Exploring the potential of empty spaces she has co-produced art exhibitions in Paris (France), Birmingham (UK), Barcelona (Spain), and Berlin (Germany).
She is focused on innovative projects that open multicultural and critical dialogues whilst converting unusual and/or public places into an immersive art experience. Her motivation is a search for shared experience, re-connection, and the transformation an art can bring.
She has worked in collaboration with projects such as Createctura (Spain), Amuleto Gallery (Argentina), Suben Art Management (UK), and B-Murals (Spain). Her recent projects include the crossover between contemporary art, participative practices, and public art installations. She works with initiatives that invite local inhabitants to take part in the urban planning of public spaces.
