Paola Gallio

Independent curator living in New York

Paola Gallio is a guest curator of ArtConnect's Artists to Watch ‘23

Paola Gallio is an Italian immigrant and independent curator living in New York. Her mission is to nurture young and under-represented artists, providing them with much-needed resources and opportunities for their long-term success.

Paola studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Art of Carrara, while pursuing a career as an independent curator. After obtaining an MA in Curatorial Studies at the AABB, Brera, she ran Neon>fdv, a curatorial platform working with young and underrepresented artists. In 2011 after working with the collector Mariano Pichler at BB10, she moved to the US, launching Frotino Edition independent editorial project.

In 2018 Paola co-founded Assembly Room, a women-centered organization dedicated to female-identified independent curators providing professional advancement through exhibitions and public programs. In September 2020, Paola founded Tappeto Volante Projects, Brooklyn, a gallery, community hub, residency program, and multidisciplinary performance space helping to uplift the art community after the fallout caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
