WHY YOUR ART NEEDS A WEBSITE

As an artist, your work is your passion and deserves a place to shine. Without a website, you’re leaving opportunities on the table. With Squarespace, you’ll be able to create a stunning, easy-to-maintain website that amplifies your visibility, protects your independence, and unlocks creative opportunities—no tech expertise required.

Whether showcasing your portfolio, selling your art, or building your community, Squarespace gives you the tools and confidence to get started.

With social media, galleries and sales platforms, do you really need your own website? - YES!

Reasons for having your own website.

  • Independence from third-party social media websites

  • Complete ownership and individuality (branding is important!)

  • Credibility and professionalism to stand out

Having a website isn’t about replacing social media or galleries; it’s about creating a space that’s entirely your own.

SEO Resources

Following best practices increases your chance of Google driving traffic to your website.

SEO titles and descriptions

Alt text for images

  • Search Engines and people with visual impairments can’t see your images. Give each image an alt text that describes the image for them. Here’s how to add alt text.

Image Compression

BONUS: Write a 1-2 sentences mini bio about yourself and add it to the footer area (the bottom of the page that always repeats). That way search engines always know what you’re all about.
